Autoresponder scripts

The term script is a general term used for a variety of purposes when associated with autoresponders.

An autoresponder script performs in a similar fashion to an autoresponder program or autoresponder software - all are basically sets  of instructions which a computer executes to perform the task of managing emails. Technically scripts differ from programs in their tools of construction and method of execution. Programs are converted permanently into binary executable files (i.e., zeros and ones) before they are run while scripts tend to remain in their original form and are interpreted command-by-command each time they are run.   The end result is much the same but scripts usually require more technical skills to set up initially.

Just as there are numerous programming languages for producing autoresponder software so there are several scripting languages which can be used to produce autoresponder scripts. Some examples of these are PHP, Perl, CGI

Often the term autoresponder script is used to refer to the content of the email messages handled by the autoresponder eg "Your autoresponder scripts can consist of articles or free tutorials or even just the simple message that you did receive their message and you will get back to them as soon as you can".

Sometimes autoresponder script refers to the autoresponder form that appears on your website to capture data from subscribers. The form is the visible bit on the website but its the script that takes over when  the "Submit" button is activated.
